East vs. West

Classy, eh?

I just love the stroke on the 'wen'.

Done entirely in Inkscape :)

UPDATE:

Here's the original chinese characters for comparison.

Image hosting by Photobucket

Pronounced (pinyin): yí wén, but honestly, I don't care how you do it... In fact, I do it wrong all the time myself... cos' it sounds flat when done correctly. My friends in the Indian Cultural Society showed me how to write it in Tamil, too...!

Some variants: yee when, yi wehn, arwen (since when did I become some LOTR character... but it comes pretty close), yiwen (accentless, I use this most often, in M'sia it's pretty uncommon to pronounce your name with the correct intonation when speaking anyway), yh'van (weirdest, but I used it during the Tamil speaking competition, cos it blends in the best!), yi3 wen2 (more lyrical, less flat.), even (as opposed to odd. It's very close.)

Meaning (individual characters): Yi Wen

More:
The plural of yiwen is yiwens
The plural of Pax, is Paxii! (faux latin haha, but traditionally, Paces is the most correct, though 'paces' refers to the plural of pax, when used to mean... nevermind.)
The plural of virus is viruses ('virus' in Latin is an uncountable noun already, ok), not virii!
When yiwen is used as an adjective it is yiwenian (pronounced: eeewe'hnean)
I haven't decided on what the adjective version of Pax is though... Paxean? (Ew... sounds like some sort of microorganism or something...)
Got it?

It's supposedly a pretty good name... But not being very versed in chinese culture, I can't really say :)

Anyhow, my friends (who are far more well versed in chinese culture than I) say it suits me perfectly... Well, yeah the 'wen' part maybe, but I dunno about the 'yi' part. Though...

Ok, how do i read this (the chinese character)? Should it be from the left? Maybe you could include the actual Chinese writing for comparison (juxtaposition) purposes..?

Visit our blog at

p.s: we've done a new one which we believe might tickle you..

From the left, yeah, like most chinese in the modern days ;)

I can't type out the characters because well, not all browsers can support chinese... So I'll just have to stick them in a graphics file.

Hmm... okay... I'll see what I can whip up :) and update this entry
