Reflections on Infections

Apparently, there's a virus going on around Singapore these days, and it's airborne! It causes throat infections! At least one person has been hospitalized for this (don't worry, it's not that serious, I got it and turned out fine. It's just not recommended for people with compromised immune systems)! A great way to get your throat infection is to ride public transport. People all around me are coughing and sneezing, getting sore throats and fever. What are you waiting for? Get yours today!

Maybe I'm slow, but it just occured to me that the public transport system is a gift to all things microbial and er... virulent. I mean, what better way to spread around the island than via the MRT? It's small, enclosed and especially squishy during rush hour. There's lots of people to infect. Best of all, germs are unaffected by the fare hike!

Primary schools are excellent incubators and public transport is a great vector. This information might be useful to someone out there somehow (if they didn't already know).

I also want to say is that viruses aren't living things because they do not metabolise. Antibiotics don't do nuts for them. But sommetimes, they are given to help against opportunistic infections or something like that.

What's the point of this post again?
